What is the market value of a Licence IV?
The market value reflects the balance between available licences and opening projects in an area. It is read from completed sales, not from listings: a licence advertised at a high price does not necessarily sell at that price.
Every day, the firm follows purchase requests and available licences across France. This reading of the market underpins our valuations.
The main trends by area
| Area | Demand | What affects the market value |
|---|---|---|
| Paris and large cities | Strong and steady | Few licences available, many projects; sought-after neighbourhoods push prices up. |
| Coast and resorts | Strong, seasonal | Openings are prepared before the season: demand peaks in winter and spring. |
| Medium-sized towns | Variable | Depends on how lively the town centre is and on projects under way in the area. |
| Rural towns | Lower locally | The licence gains value if it can be transferred to a dynamic town in the département or a neighbouring one. |
These trends remain general: the market value is set at the level of the town, sometimes the neighbourhood. See your département
What pushes the market value up
- Many opening projects in the area: new neighbourhoods, town-centre regeneration, a new tourist attraction
- Towns where every licence is in use and none comes up for sale
- The possibility of transferring the licence to a nearby city or tourist area
What brings it down
- Several licences put up for sale at the same time in the same area
- A licence close to five years without operation: the buyer has little time to transfer it
- A licence that is the last in its town: transferring it to another town requires the mayor's approval
